Basics
- Flocked carpet is made of Nylon (Polyamide) flock which is glued onto a fibreglass carrier using PVC glue. Either PVC or other compound products serve as backing.
- Flock may be supplied in the shape of 2 m wide roll-to-roll carpet or in the shape of carpet tiles.
- Flocked carpet products are mainly used in commercial buildings or in high traffic areas. Good penetration as well as light and shampoo fastness are required.
Printing Methods
- Flock can be printed with flat screen printers, rotary screen printers or with COLARIS inkjet technology.
ZIMMER AUSTRIA has developed the process technology to print flock products on a roll-to-roll basis using COLARIS in combination with digital inline pre-treatment.

COLARIS.CARPET PRINTER
| Inkjet printing
- For printing, the COLARIS.CARPET PRINTER in 2,600 mm width, with 6 colors from either 4 or 8 Starfire printheads per color, is recommended.
- This solution offers a production speed of about 2.8 or 5.6 m/min at 400 x 800 dpi resolution and a printing width of 2,200 mm.
Printing Process
- Pre-coating to apply acid and thickener
- Design printing with COLARIS, equipped with 6 colors using acid inks
- Steaming for about 5 minutes
- Washing and vacuuming
- Drying
- Edge-cutting and winding
